I have been shopping tires since I had to have my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I’m normally a PSS guy, but Continental ExtremeContact DW’s are heavily discounted over at tire rack at the moment. I got a whole set for less than two rears would cost from Michelin... $521.00!
The tread life is shorter than PSS, and the Hankooks that are currently on it, but the car only sees a few thousand miles per year.
Any oppos have ExtremeContact DW’s? Opinions?

I ran a set on my RX8. I enjoyed the tire. Dry grip was good although a little wonky at the limit. In the rain, they were wonderful. One of the best wet tires I have owned. They wore ok but got quite loud when worn down, but camber wear was probably a big part of that.

They are cool for snow and very extreme weather, have em on our ob for quite some time. However they are not even close to a pss on wet pavement or in the dry. They are simply not a proper tire for an m3 unless you are really in a place with snow. I’d plan on getting rid of them asap after winter.
If your car only sees a few thousand miles a year to me you just gave an olympic runner clown shoes, it’s no way to experience or treat an m3. I suggest you move these tires to a secondary set of wheels instead of doing this treachery to your m3.
Big mistake, if I had an m3 that only went a few k a year it’d have some cup 2's on there. I’d cancel your order. Saving a few bucks on tires may seem neat but they are pretty much one of the most important things to a cars capabilities. Don’t cheap out on tires, Michelins are plenty cheap these days.

You are thinking of the DWS

Good to know. I read that they were a little weaker than the competition at the limit. However, the M3 is a ragtop and a Sunday driver at this point. Also It has been on snow tires for the past 3 years lol. So they should do the trick.

All-seasons are no-seasons... they don’t hold a candle to proper snow tires.
Although I am considering all-seasons after my V12s are done.
And yeah, you’re thinking DWS, like crowmolly said.

I’m picking up what you’re putting down, but on a street car are super grippy tires worth the money? How often would you reach the limit of grip? IMO - cheaper tires are worth it on the street. You’re not trying to get that extra 2 mph through a corner or trying to pick up an extra 0.3 seconds on your way to work driving the 35mph speed limit. Its worth it to save a few bucks, lower the limit of grip, and pad your wallet a bit.

Lol the car has been on Blizzaks for the past 3 years. Also the DW’s are summer tires and were rated better than the PSS in the wet. Cup 2's for street driving is silly.

Yeah, for that purpose, it’s a tire I would definitely recommend

I love my dw’s, cheap and as grippy as the toyos they replaced. The dws’s now those aren’t nearly as good, but as vs a summer tire is not a fair camparison anyway.
I will be buying these again for sure.

Dw’s are not the same as the dws’s. the dw’s are a great tire, and relatively cheap.

Had a set on my GTI. They were great in both wet and dry conditions, would buy again. My biggest issue was that they were sooooo much better than the craptastic all-seasons that came on the car that they encouraged me to do more dumb stuff - full throttle launches at stoplights, zooming around turns, etc. As a result they wore out rather quickly, and the car lost a few MPGs in the process. Totally worth the trade-off though.
